Bella finds a friend

The stars were shining favorably on Bella today.

She was wishing for a playmate to call her own

and out of nowhere came this little golden stray.

We put his picture in the lost and found column.

Nicknamed Obo, he came loaded with ticks.

After a morning being deticked and Advantix (ed)

and playing with Bella he became quite tired.

If you are looking for a new dog or looking for

your lost dog both of these are looking for their homes.

Kelly sure loves car rides

Kelly 006

Not sure if the picture quite captures the fun Kelly has while going

out for a little social time with other dogs and a car ride to get there.

There are some jobs a hound just can't do

Rained on and off most of the day so for the dogs it is was a Cat in the Hat day. I decided that I would fold the laundry with Marmaduke and Cody in the bedroom. As soon as I dumped the contents of the laundry basket on the bed it was an all out free for all. Marmaduke grabbed a towel and took off to the other side of the room. I called him back and exchanged the towel for a treat. Cody said "Wow, I can play this game!" He grabbed the towel and ran the opposite way. And that is how it went for the next few minutes. Finally had them both down and practiced our downs and sits for treats. Then I loaded the laundry back in the basket. Rainy days and bored dogs don't make good company for folding laundry. With the laundry out of the way, I laid down on the bed and Cody jumped up on one side and Marmaduke on the other. Two big soft hearted dogs doing what they do best, hanging out and enjoying a lazy rainy afternoon with their family.

Kelly... what a gem!

Kelly has resided so long in a shelter that he forgot what it was like to run and play. It didn't take him long to bounce back. This is one happy go lucky dog. He is an absolute gem. Mild mannered. Kelly plays well with a pack of dogs. He is  people oriented and quiet.

He will not be available for adoption until after Oct 1, 2008 as he needs to be neutered and updated on routine shots. He walks well on the leash. Although he does not know any basic commands he will be taught them by the time he is adopted. He is crate trained and working on being housebroken. If you think you are interested in this dog and would like to get to know him drop us an email. He is a very happy and devoted dog.  Thank you to Janet Rice and Roger McNerney for sponsoring Kelly. You have made a huge difference in his life! It is the gift that will keep on giving.

What was once lost has been found

On Sunday Daisy looked to have found her forever home, but alas being the hound she is she had one thing in mind...run run run. She managed to jump a 5 foot wooden fence twice. Being a responsible person and knowing Daisy would continue to scale the fence she called several times for advice on what to do as she loved the dog and wanted to keep her...but also do right by the dog. After much thought she returned the dog to our care, unfortunately about 3 hours after returning to our house she managed to get out of our 3 fences that we have, the tallest being a 6 foot no climb horse fence. From 9:15 Sunday night until Tuesday evening we searched out property, made phone calls and drove around looking for her. We were informed she was found.

Lucky for her she is being adopted by the family that found her, giving her a good home.

It is always a good day when a dog gets a second chance, third chance, and even a fourth chance at life!

One less dog Ft Drum has to euthanize!

Here is Daisy with a responsible dog lover :)

A happy tale of being Reunited

We got a call one night from a family member saying they have come across a stray German Shepard. We came to the rescue. When I met Ceaser he was in some bad shape, it looked like he might have mange, various sore spots and really stinky. Once I got by all that I could see one happy and loving dog that had not been taken care of. He was happy and hungry for attention. So we took him home.

We found out the person who had him was in the hospital due to a heart attack and was no longer able to take care Ceaser.

Once home Ceaser got a well deserved bath, food and a nice bed.

On Monday the 10th of Dec. I took Ceaser to the vet. After an hour and a half working him back into shape, we scanned him. HE HAD A MICROCHIP! So I got the information along with his medications and headed home. After some research we found his original owners, they had given Ceaser (found his name out via the microchip) to what they thought was a good home.

Owners arrived out our house Happiness and tears were flowing as Ceaser was happy to hear his previous owners.

Ceaser went home back to his loving and caring home. They were very happy to have gotten him back as it was hard to give him up before, and said he not going any where but HOME!

Reunited and Happy.
