Kelly's neuter surgery went well. He was a very groggy when he was picked up but perked right up at dinner time. Tanya and Justin (Pampered Paws- they do Military Pet Fostering and are two of the kindest people you'll meet) came over and brought the dogs some big juicy bones so Kelly had no time to fret over his incision. The vet wanted it iced but Kelly wanted no part of that. He was a little perturbed that we wanted to put ice on him and not let him play with the ice. He also had a small lump removed from the outside of his ear. The vet felt it was benign but we wanted to be safe. Kelly was microchipped which was a huge debate because of the cost but we also don't want Kelly to ever sit for months on end in a shelter again.
We worry that the dogs vet costs will be far greater than an affordable adoption fee but on the other hand a responsible owner would have to take the dog and do the same exact medical care we are doing but for a greater cost because they aren't bringing in multiple dogs. We are always looking for ways to get the dogs the services they need at a friendly price.
We would like the money our sponsors give us to be able to be recycled for future dogs and not be stuck in a position where we can't pull a dog out for lack of funding.
